New Hope Spot in Panama Champions a Push for a Healthier Environment

Dr. Sylvia Earle says, “Panama’s Bocas del Toro is a stunning pocket of biodiversity, brimming with magnificent creatures like the leatherback sea turtle and brilliant coral. Once human activities destroy the natural ecosystem here, we might not get it back. I applaud the Champions for working towards a healthy tomorrow,
not just for Panama but the entire ocean.”

The Conflict Islands Hope Spot has an incredible advocate; the organization Conflict Islands Conservation Initiative (CICI) has been hard at work over the last couple of years to keep the atoll’s ecosystem as healthy and stable as possible through their reef conservation projects and shark and sea turtle tagging programs.
