Submit your comment to oppose Secretary Zinke's National Park Service fee increase
Secretary of Interior Ryan Zinke has spent his short time in office attempting to roll back regulations and reward oil and gas interests and other polluters. His latest plan is to increase park entrance fees at many parks by 133%.
Raising entrance fees from $30 to $70 at 17 of our country's most visited parks effectively prices out millions of people that might otherwise experience these treasures. Protecting endangered and threatened species and the places they call home is vastly more difficult when the public is not able to experience nature firsthand. This shifting of costs is proposed simultaneously with a 13 percent decrease in the Park Service's budget–putting the maintenance costs on the backs of visitors to pay for an enormous tax cut for the wealthiest among us.
Tell Secretary Zinke to focus on conservation and preservation and drop his plan to shift the cost of national parks onto the working class.
