URGENT: Canada lynx in peril

Dear folks,
A secretive creature is known to silently roam the dense forests and deep snows of North America.
It is an animal rarely seen – and now it’s on the edge of losing it all as the Trump administration threatens its survival.
The Canada lynx – despite its name – is found across the northern United States. But sadly for this beautiful cat, its future is under threat from the Trump administration.
Just last week, the administration announced its intentions to strip the Canada lynx of its Endangered Species Act protections. This shocking announcement flies in the face of sound science.
With its long legs and large furry paws, the cold-loving lynx is well-adapted for the deep, fluffy snows of its forested habitat. It relies on a thriving population of snowshoe hares and a stable snowpack. But what makes these cats so unique also makes them vulnerable. Because of their specialized adaptations, lynx are particularly susceptible to climate change – which is expected to decrease the snowpack and cause earlier snowmelt.
Yet, despite the continued threat posed by climate change and a current lack of data on the health of lynx populations in the lower 48 states, the Trump administration is resolved to strip away protections for these iconic cats.
In fact, the Trump administration’s decision even goes against their own scientific data! Their own report – which is their justification for delisting lynx – predicts significant loss of lynx habitat from climate change.
The administration’s cavalier disregard for sound science puts our imperiled wildlife in even greater jeopardy.
But we won’t take it sitting down. And we know you won’t either.
Sincerely,
Lauren McCain
