|     1:33    |     NEWS    | Weird, Deep-Sea 'Worm' As Long As an Arm Sometimes the background science to a video can be as remarkable as the footage itself. This piece is about an unusual creature: a giant shipworm. Encased in what looks a bit like an elephant tusk, Kuphus polythalamia's body is mostly a long, rubbery cylinder. But what's really strange about this type of shipworm is its "food." Unlike other shipworms, which eat wood, this species derives its food from bacteria inside its body. So, unlike almost every other animal, it doesn't eat much of anything, maybe literally nothing at all. —Jim Burch, associate producer WATCH NOW SHARE

Commonly known as a stingfish, this aquatic pedestrian was filmed off the coast of Bali, Indonesia. |     3:00    |     NEWS    | See How They Track Polar Bears in Russia I didn't know that Russia has one-third of the world's polar bears! We always think of Canada and Alaska, but polar bears don't recognize countries, and if they walk across the Arctic ice, there's no predicting where they can end up. Unfortunately, there has not been a lot of research into Russian polar bears for the past several decades. |     1:25    |     NEWS    | 3,000-Year-Old Donkey Dung: A Clue to King Solomon's Mines? What can we learn from ancient animal waste? For archaeologists at an ancient copper mining camp in Israel, it turns out quite a bit. While excavating the site, they uncovered livestock manure preserved by the arid climate, which they dated to the 10th century B.C.—the era of the biblical kings David and Solomon. Prior to the discovery, the site was believed to not be in use until some centuries later. Due to the remote location of the camp, donkeys would have been used for transportation of water and other supplies. —Jed Winer, associate producer WATCH NOW SHARE
