RE: LAWSUIT: Help give wildlife its day in court

I wanted to make sure you saw this important message.
Our legal team is often the last line of defense for wildlife under siege – but the endless attacks from the Trump administration and this anti-wildlife Congress are stretching our resources to the limit.
Defenders is working around the clock to defend and protect our wildlife and wild places. And we need your support to keep up with the mounting threats.

Dear folks,
When special interests are overrunning Congress and the government won't do its job to protect and defend wildlife, we go to court.
Our legal team is often the last line of defense for wildlife under siege – from wolves and whales to sea otters and bats. But the endless attacks are stretching our resources to the limit.
It’s going to take everything we’ve got to fight this administration’s blatant disregard for wildlife and wild places. In many instances, the courts have become our only option to save imperiled species and their habitats.
We’re currently fighting numerous attacks that could have major consequences for wildlife and wild places like:
  • Mexican gray wolves. Defenders has filed suit against the administration’s deeply flawed recovery plan for critically endangered Mexican gray wolves.
  • North Atlantic right whales. We are fighting to protect critically endangered North Atlantic right whales from entanglement in fishing gear, one of the largest threats to their existence.
  • Izembek National Wildlife Refuge. We are challenging the administration’s illegal backroom deal to trade away congressionally-designated wilderness to commercial interests and to authorize construction of a destructive and unnecessary road through the heart of the refuge.
  • Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument. We are taking legal action against the administration’s unlawful attempt to revoke protections for roughly half of the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument which provides important habitat for bears, desert bighorn sheep, mountain lions and over 200 species of birds.
But, this is just the tip of the iceberg. We have had to increase staff to oppose the sheer volume of threatens facing wildlife under this administration. And in order to do the best job possible for wildlife, we need your support.
Our expert legal team is a crucial asset in fighting the Trump administration’s attempts to undo the checks and balances of power in our government. The courts are our last line of defense against the administration’s anti-wildlife agenda – and we will to use them to protect the lives of those without a voice: our cherished wildlife.
Sincerely,
Jamie Rappaport Clark
