Cataloguing the World's Species: This Adorable Animal Joins the Photo Ark
Some people commemorate milestones with a party. Joel Sartore celebrated it by photographing an adorable marsupial. The wildlife photographer's portrait of an endangered Leadbeater's possum became the 7,000th animal to be catalogued for National Geographic's Photo Ark project. Although "forest fairies" prefer to roam in the quiet night, this particular critter was far from camera-shy.
