What Do You Know About Humans' Closest Ancestors?
As macabre as it sounds, producing videos about prehistoric events is a little like crime scene forensics. We have to imagine and rebuild prehistoric "scenes" that we haven't personally witnessed, based on the bits of information we have at hand.

For the Neanderthals 101 video, we used images of fossils and artifacts, artist renderings of life scenes, and forensic reconstructions of a female neanderthal from National Geographic magazine. All these elements came together to help us visualize the incredible story of these early humans.

Fight Between Gecko and Snake Has a Surprising End
A distressed tokay gecko and a hungry golden tree snake met in Bangkok for a high stakes standoff. Most cases of predation that I see end in a fatality for one of the parties involved. This can sometimes make me feel sad for the prey, even if I understand that the predator needs to hunt to survive. In this battle, however, you'll see a different version of the usual predation narrative.

While there's no easy answer, this video by Nat Geo video producer Jim Burch offers a way to understand a complicated crisis everyone should be aware of.

What Is the Nobel Prize?
Arguably the most prestigious award in the world, the Nobel Prize has the power to surpass national, cultural, and political barriers by honoring those working towards a brighter future for all. Last week, this great honor was bestowed upon a new group of Nobel Laureates, prompting us at National Geographic video to explore the often-peculiar history of the prize. From researching the life of Alfred Nobel (he also invented dynamite!) to hearing the inspired speeches of past recipients, helping produce this video was an emotional roller coaster.

Meet the Reindeer Herders of the Russian Arctic
For centuries, the Nenets people and their reindeer herds have migrated 800 miles each year through the Russian Arctic. This resilient indigenous group has survived Russian rule and Soviet persecution, but now massive energy infrastructure projects and a warming climate are threatening their way of life. This striking, atmospheric video, produced as part of a National Geographic magazine story, takes you inside the sights and sounds of the Nenets migration.
